Job Description Job Opportunity Shift Availability Available shifts include:
- Day Shift: 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM
- Evening Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
- Night Shift: 11:15 PM - 7:15 AM
Job Description We are seeking a dedicated individual with the necessary experience and essential knowledge to provide quality care in a long-term care (LTC) health facility. The candidate will be responsible for observing and reporting a variety of physical and mental health symptoms and conditions while implementing appropriate care procedures for a designated caseload of patients.
Experience and Essential Knowledge - Minimum of six (6) months of experience in a long-term care or medically-oriented institution.
- Knowledge of basic nursing skills including but not limited to:
- Vital sign measurement
- Output measurement
- Recognition of abnormal signs and symptoms
- Understanding of first aid, patient rights, and universal precautions.
- Knowledge of infection control, body mechanics, principles of growth and development, and activities of daily living such as:
- Feeding and hydration
- Bathing
- Dressing
- Awareness of restorative care principles, including the use of assistive devices and range of motion activities.
- Basic medical and nursing terminology.
- Able to assess patients' age-specific needs and provide direct personal care independently.
Desirable Qualifications - Knowledge of diverse cultures.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Good observation skills and the ability to document events accurately.
- Demonstrated patience and tolerance in handling individuals with various behavioral challenges.
Knowledge and Abilities - Familiarity with personal hygiene and bodily care practices.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions precisely.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with patients and staff.
- Capability to maintain emotional stability under pressure.
- Commitment to nursing and medical ethics.
Certification Requirements Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.
Physical Requirements Applicants must be physically capable of performing the essential tasks related to this position. The position may involve various physical, sensory, and mental demands which are essential for effective performance.
